We're adding EV capability, not building from scratch. With our existing workshop in Johor and the upcoming RTS Link advantages. Here are the advantages and challenges for an EV / ICE / HEV Repair Garage in Johor and Singapore:
Is it too early?
Honestly, it's early but not too early. You're looking at a first-mover window right now:
Current EV landscape in Malaysia:
• Johor specifically benefits from Singapore spillover (many SG-registered EVs crossing daily)
• Most existing workshops have zero EV capability — huge gap
• To-date there are only 2 workshops in Johor – namely

• Singapore: 99,157 hybrids + 26,225 EVs = 125,000 vehicles needing specialist service.
• Premium European brands growing fastest. Independent certified workshops? You can count them on one hand.
• To-date there are 6 EV workshops in Singapore

ICE Challenges 2026 in Singapore
• Owners holding onto older ICE vehicles longer → more servicing demand short-term
• Increase demand for Repair services as VICOM policy tightens towards ICE cars

Our business is clean as :
1) Zero loan – We had no outstanding loans with Banks or any private institutions
2) Zero Accounts payable – We pay our suppliers promptly so there’s no outstanding
3) Zero Accounts receivable – All our customers pay promptly so we have no invoices that are unpaid
4) Mezzaine floor & office

My honest take:
Not too early if you position it as an add-on to your current ICE business. The volume isn't there yet for Johor but a day-trip in Johor, you will notice the number of ICE (new) cars & EV cars on the road. So by 2026-2027 when RTS opens and JB-SG integration deepens, these cars will age and will be looking for independent workshops once their Warranty ends.
